The look of the garden floor - paths, paving, patios and lawns - is vitally important in a garden. These features are likely to cover more ground space than beds or border, and in the autumn and winter months will probably make more of an impact than plants. Paths and paving should be designed to suit their function. However this doesn't mean that they can't look good.
